What is a Valheim seed viewer?
Every Valheim world is procedurally generated from a seed — a short string of letters and numbers that acts as the DNA of the entire map. A seed viewer (also called a seed map or seed mapper) lets you preview the whole world before you play it: where each biome sits, how far the first boss altar is from spawn, where the merchant Haldor has set up shop, and which direction you should sail for swamp crypts. Think of it as an interactive map for world shopping: paste in any map seed, read the layout in seconds, and instead of committing hours to a random world, shop around for one that fits your group — a big Meadows start, a swamp close to base, or mountains within walking distance.
How to use this world generator
- Find your seed in Valheim's world list (see our guide to finding your seed), or type any new one — seeds are case sensitive.
- Enter it above and hit Generate Map. The map generator draws terrain and biomes instantly; boss altars, Haldor and dungeons appear with clear coordinates from our approximate preview engine, and the list under the map viewer gives you every position as plain text.
- Use the coordinates to plan portal routes, boss runs and trade trips — treat every distance as a planning aid and verify critical locations in game.
- Copy the share link to send the full map to your friends.
How to choose a good Valheim seed
A random world is always playable, but the right seed saves you days of aimless sailing. Before you commit, read the map for five things: a Meadows spawn with room for a base, the first boss altar within a reasonable walk, swamp terrain with sunken crypts for your iron age, a trader you can actually find, and a sensible route toward the late-game biomes in the north and south. Which of those matters most depends on your group — a co-op crew that plays twice a week values walkable bosses, while a solo iron rush lives and dies by crypt density near the coast.
Instead of rolling dozens of random worlds, start from seeds the community has already documented: HHcLC5acQt is the classic boss-rush world with altars and traders clustered near spawn, SuperSeed packs every biome onto one continent for a 1.0 Deep North expedition, and nkkFzfrNPu drops you next to a swamp with up to 27 sunken crypts for an iron farm start. Each one opens in the viewer above, and the full curated list sorts 71 worlds by playstyle.
Built for the 1.0 Deep North update
Valheim 1.0 rebuilt the far north of the map into the Deep North, with new locations and generation rules that pre-1.0 tools don't show. Our generator follows the 1.0 world structure — Deep North in the far north, Ashlands burning in the far south — so you can plan expeditions into the new content. Read more on the 1.0 Deep North update page, or browse hand-picked seeds if you want a world that's already vetted.
Guides for your new world
Once you've picked a seed, our field-tested guides help you make the most of it: learn how to find Haldor, the Valheim trader, prepare for troll raids and base defense, set up a reliable food supply with the farming and food guide, or browse all Valheim guides.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find my Valheim seed?
Open the world list in Valheim's main menu — the seed is printed next to each world's name. When creating a new world, you can type your own seed in the seed field. Seeds are case sensitive.
Is this Valheim seed viewer free?
Yes. ValheimSeed.com is completely free, requires no login, and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing to install, no account needed.
Does the map support the Valheim 1.0 Deep North update?
Yes — this Valheim world generator follows the 1.0 world rules, including the rebuilt Deep North in the far north and the Ashlands in the far south. See our 1.0 Deep North page for details.
How accurate is the world map?
The viewer produces a deterministic preview: the same seed always generates the same map, so you can share and compare worlds. The engine is being tuned toward game-exact placement — always verify critical locations in game.
Does this work as a Valheim seed mapper?
Yes — ValheimSeed.com is a free Valheim seed mapper and map viewer in one. Enter a seed and the full world map renders instantly with boss altars, Haldor and dungeons marked, so you can scout the entire world like an interactive map — no login, nothing to install.
Can this tool generate new map seeds for me?
Yes — it doubles as a Valheim seed generator. Hit Random and the map seed viewer instantly draws the fresh world, so you can keep rolling until a layout looks right, then copy the share link to send it to your crew.
Can I share a seed with my friends?
Yes. After generating a map, copy the share link — it contains the seed as a URL parameter, so anyone who opens it sees the same world instantly.
Are Valheim seeds case sensitive?
Yes — uppercase and lowercase letters produce completely different worlds, and a typo silently gives you a different map. Always copy-paste the seed. The seed field accepts up to 10 characters, letters or numbers, and words work just as well as random strings.
Do old seeds still work after the Valheim 1.0 update?
The same seed string still creates a world, but 1.0 rebuilt parts of world generation — most notably the Deep North in the far north — so a seed documented on an older patch may lay out differently now. Re-check any seed you care about with a seed map before committing to a long-term world.
What makes a good Valheim seed?
It depends on how you play: a Meadows spawn with the Black Forest nearby suits beginners, boss-focused players want altars close to spawn, iron runners look for swamp crypts near the coast, and traders want Haldor within walking distance. Browse our curated seed list to skip the trial and error entirely.
Does this seed map work on mobile?
Yes. The viewer runs entirely in your browser, so it works on phones and tablets — handy for scouting a map while the game loads on another screen, or opening a shared seed link wherever someone sends it.
Can I preview a seed before creating the world in game?
Yes — that is exactly what this seed map viewer is for. Type any seed above (or pick one from the curated list) and the map renders instantly, before you spend hours in a world that does not fit your plans.
